Shigeru Kawai at the 2026 Leimert Park Jazz Festival in Los Angeles
On August 29, Shigeru Kawai joined the 2026 Leimert Park Jazz Festival in Los Angeles, where a Shigeru Kawai grand piano took the stage alongside an exceptional lineup of jazz artists at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.
Now in its seventh year, the Leimert Park Jazz Festival celebrates jazz, community, and the rich cultural heritage of South Los Angeles. The 2026 festival brought together artists across generations, including acclaimed pianist and composer Bobby West, José James presenting Facing East: The Music of John Coltrane with pianist Julius Rodriguez, and the West Coast Get Down in a special performance celebrating the life and music of Ryan Porter.

A Shigeru Kawai Grand Piano on the Festival Stage
Handcrafted in Japan and individually voiced, Shigeru Kawai grand pianos are designed to provide the tonal depth, responsiveness, and expressive control demanded by accomplished pianists. Those qualities are especially suited to jazz, where touch, dynamics, and musical expression can shift from one moment to the next.
